South Yorkshire rescues seek homes for 13 dogs, including Labrador-sized Pomeranian cross
Thornberry Animal Sanctuary and Helping Yorkshire Poundies are seeking homes for 13 dogs, including a Pomeranian cross about a Labrador’s size.
Thornberry Animal Sanctuary and Helping Yorkshire Poundies have 13 dogs seeking homes in South Yorkshire, highlighted by The Star on Saturday 31 October.
Among them are Chilli, a Pomeranian cross roughly the size of a Labrador, and Meg, a Jack Russell terrier aged about 12. The dogs have different requirements, from households experienced with particular breeds to homes without other pets.
Dogs looking for the right household
Chilli came to Thornberry as a stray who was not claimed. The sanctuary says he needs a household familiar with Pomeranians that can provide a routine. He can be noisy around other dogs and could live with dog-aware teenagers aged 14 or above. He keeps his kennel clean.
Meg, with Helping Yorkshire Poundies, needs owners who can avoid leaving her alone because she panics without company. She must be the household’s only dog and cannot live with cats or small animals. Her foster family has helped her make progress; she travels well and walks well on a lead.
Roly, a 10-year-old pug cross with Helping Yorkshire Poundies, can share a home with another dog and children older than 10. He is housetrained, settles indoors and can spend a few hours alone. The rescue says he remains playful and enjoys walks, although long hikes are unsuitable.
Lyla, a bully aged about three, urgently needs a home through Helping Yorkshire Poundies. She requires an owner experienced with bull breeds, no other pets and direct access to a fully enclosed garden. She can pull strongly on the lead and would be best suited to a quieter household with older children.
