IceSheffield Sheffield: two ice pads, but your session matters more than opening hours

IceSheffield Sheffield ice pads—session times guide

IceSheffield is an ice sports venue on Coleridge Road, Sheffield, S9 5DA, with recreational skating, lessons and competition facilities. For a visit, the important distinction is between the building’s opening hours and the time your chosen activity actually runs: an open venue does not mean public skating is available.

Finding IceSheffield and checking session times

The Everyone Active venue page is the starting point for contact details, activities and enquiries. It lists the telephone number as 0114 223 3900. Check the activity timetable before travelling rather than relying on general opening hours.

IceSheffield location in Sheffield

Everyone Active lists opening hours of 06:00–01:00 daily. These are not a public-skating timetable. Use the activity filters to select your day and activity, then check the session’s price, availability and booking conditions. For children or first-time skaters, confirm age requirements, supervision arrangements and equipment hire before paying.

For the journey, use the Coleridge Road address and S9 5DA postcode. Check parking arrangements and your return public transport journey separately, particularly if booking an evening session. Do not assume parking charges or late services from the venue’s opening hours.

Two ice pads serving different visits

Everyone Active describes two Olympic-sized ice pads: the Bauer Arena and the Community Ice Pad. The Bauer Arena supports competition and high-level ice sports, while the Community Ice Pad supports recreational participation. The venue information gives spectator capacities of 1,500 for the Bauer Arena and 125 for Pad 2.

The activities listed include leisure skating, skating lessons, ice hockey lessons, training and curling. Choose by purpose: a recreational session is different from structured tuition, and attending a competition is different from booking time on the ice. Confirm which activity and rink your booking covers.

For wider local coverage, the Sport section also examines Sheffield Wednesday’s Hillsborough history and points-deduction question.

A spring return to exercise is a useful way to think about a first skating visit: leave room for a second outing rather than making the first one an endurance test. Choose a session that fits your confidence and travel plans, and avoid packing the rest of the day too tightly. Time to change, recover and get home comfortably matters as much as time on the ice.

Accessibility: check the whole route to the rink

Everyone Active lists accessible parking bays, ramp access, automatic entrance doors, accessible entrance gates and lift access to all floors. Its accessibility information also includes accessible toilets and showers, changing facilities, and a changing facility with a hoist and changing bed.

These details help with planning, but building access and support during an activity are separate questions. Before booking, explain any assistance or equipment requirements and ask how they apply to your chosen session. Confirm the route between parking, changing facilities, the rink and spectator seating rather than checking only the entrance.

Food, equipment and meeting-room hire

The official venue page lists the Core Bar Restaurant and Willies Ice equipment shop. Check their opening arrangements separately if refreshments or an equipment purchase are part of your visit; building opening hours should not be treated as restaurant or shop hours.

IceSheffield also offers two meeting and conference rooms. Everyone Active gives capacities of up to 20 people for the boardroom and up to 100 people for the Glacier Suite. For an enquiry, specify attendance, room layout, accessibility needs and catering requirements, and confirm availability directly before making arrangements.
